What Are The Benefits Of A Car Amp?
An essential component of any car’s stereo system is a car amplifier. An amplifier for your car is a device that amplifies sound from your car’s radio, and then transmits it to your speakers.
Most cars come with pre-installed amps, but they may not be the best. They are sufficient for pre-installed speakers but an external amp will be required if you want to upgrade.
It is virtually impossible to add a subwoofer to an amp or louder stereo speakers. It is possible, but it won’t give you the desired results.
It is important to have an amp that matches the speakers if you want the best performance.
Every speaker upgrade requires a new car amp, which includes a stronger subwoofer or stereo speakers.
An external amp can make even pre-installed speakers sound better.
Which Amp Should I Buy?
The answer to this question is simple. The best amp for you should be the one that meets your goals and needs.
The question really is, what do you want to do?
You might want to replace both the front and rear speakers or all three with a subwoofer.
You might be searching for a different type of amp depending on the answers.
If you are looking to add one subwoofer to your car’s speakers, a mono amp is the best choice.
Monoblock, also known as monoamp, is an amplifier with one speaker output. It is used for subwoofers only.
If you’re replacing 2 or more front speakers, you will need a 4-channel, 2-channel amp.
One amp can be used to replace all the speakers.
The subwoofer is powered by one mono amp, while the speakers are powered by a multichannel amp.
Mono amps that have RCA preamp outputs should be considered.
These RCA preamp outputs are useful for pairing two amps together.
When buying a mono amp, you should take into account the size and type of amplifier. Class AB and Class-D are the most popular.
They are less expensive than monoamps of the same type, but they are more efficient and can work at higher temperatures.
Mono amps that produce great bass are more suitable for Class-D than monoamps.
Multichannel amplifiers can be used to power tweeters or full-range speakers. Better options are Class-AB amplifying.
Digital amplification may be more efficient in terms power output but it also offers cooler performance and lower noise levels. It does however distort the highs and mids more than analog amplifier.
Class-AB amps sound cleaner, fuller, and less distorted than their treble and midrange reproductions, which is why they are still in business.
Once you’ve identified the amp type you desire, you can start looking for matching power ratings.

What are the Power Ratings?
It should not be difficult to locate the outputs (power ratings) that match. However, it is not an easy task.
Let’s look at what it should look like. If you have a good idea of the type of speaker/subwoofer that you are looking for, you can review the specifications to determine the impedance, RMS and peak power ratings.
Next, find an amp with a matching or higher RMS output for your specific impedance. It should match the impedance of your speaker. This sounds so easy.
One problem exists with this process. You should verify that the power ratings in the manual are correct.
In practice, this is false. This is often true with generic amps and cheap amps. The power outputs of amps can be exaggerated, which doesn’t always reflect their actual capabilities.
Brands such as Planet Audio and BOSS Audio use amps that have high power ratings.
An amp that is advertised at 4000W will only deliver 25-30% the advertised output. These amps don’t always turn out to be bad.
These are often quite affordable. Their misleading advertising can be very irritating.
These amps advertise as being 4000W amps. These amps have been included in our list. We also included calculations to help you understand what to expect.
You need to know the power output to find the right match. If you have a 2000W(RMS/2) subwoofer, it would be a mistake to buy an amp that claims it can output 4000W but delivers only 1000W RMS (or more).
Is it possible to calculate the power output? To determine the true power output, there are many things you can do.
If your amp has to produce the advertised power output, avoid cheap generic brands. They’re not as reliable and as trustworthy as they say.
You can also calculate the maximum power output. The maximum power output can be found here. The maximum voltage is typically 14.4V. The user guide will provide the fuse rating. Efficiency is sometimes also found in the manual. To calculate the maximum power output, you can use the values of.6 or.8 for Class-AB amps and Class-D amps.
This equation is a simplified Ohm’s Law. It can be used with any amp but is better suited to mono amps.
This equation calculates the maximum output. It is not the same thing as the RMS outputs. It can however help you to determine if your amp is capable of delivering the power you need.
For example, let’s suppose that you need at least 2000W RMS power, and that you are looking for an amp that can deliver 4000W maximum. Avoid amps with a maximum output of less than 1000W.
Also, you can search for CEA-compliant amps. CEA-2006 is a standard that defines the measurement of the RMS power outputs of car amplifiers. If an amp has CEA-certified RMS power ratings, you can be certain that it is genuine.
Also, you might want to look for amp dyno tests. YouTube has many videos. These tests can be used for measuring Peak and RMS outputs.
These are the best ways to calculate the RMS outputs. However, they are not available on all amps. It is often necessary to determine the max output, then calculate RMS output.
You’re now familiar with advertising basics and aware of the dangers associated with misleading information. Let’s move to the next section
Here is a list of 8 top 4000-Watt amplifiers. It can be broken down into three sections: the best 4000-Watt amplifiers under $100, the best 4000-Wattamps below $200, and the best 4000-Watt amps above $200.
We have created a section to accommodate the 4500-Watt amplifiers since there won’t be an additional list.
Warning: To get your amp running continuously at 4000W (4000W RMS), you will need to spend more then $200 Most amps under $200 can’t push 4000W in short bursts. Their maximum power outputs fall below 4000W.
Best 4000-Watt Amps Under $100
1. Ignite Audio R1600/1D
Editor’s Rating: (4 / 5)
The Ignite Audio R1600/1D monoamp is a Class-D amp. This amp can only handle 4000W at maximum, but that is not what it claims. It can reach 1200W but that is all you can hope for. You can still get the Ignite Audio R1600/1D entry level amp for as low as 90 bucks.
Impressions
R1600/1D comes with a wired remote control for bass and mounting screws. It also includes a user manual and a 1-year warranty.
It is lightweight and strong. It measures 13.7in long, 8.9in wide, and 2.1in tall.

Best 4000-Watt Amps Under $200
These amps are made by brands that don’t exist. These amps are reasonably priced, but they do not have the promised 4000W. They produce less power than they claim.
2. Rockville db14
Editor’s Rating: (4.2 / 5)
Rockville is a budget-friendly brand. However, unlike other brands that have a budget, it has excessive maximum power ratings. Rockville DB14 is a Class D mono amp and is advertised at 4000W (4000W is the power peak), but it is not capable of pushing 4000W.
Rockville’s amps are CEA compliant and have the CEA’s RMS certified output. We love that fact.
We don’t like the fact that Rockville has three sets of ratings. They are CEA certified RMS rating (real Energy Outputs), Uncertified RMS ratings, which are much higher than CEA ratings. Also, they offer rating of peak power (some random number).
It can be confusing if you don’t know what to look for.
Impressions
The dB14 amplifier, a remote control that can be wired up to the bass level user’s manual, warranty card, and a birth certificate (certificate with CEA rating) are all contained in the box.
The amp’s aluminum housing is brushed and features an illuminated Rockville logo at its top. It looks quite stylish. It measures 15.5in in length, 9in wide, and 2.4in high.
Only one pair of RCA inputs and an additional set RCA preamp outputs are included in the amp. An RCA outlet is available for strapping with master-in/slave out switching. You will need an adapter if your car radio doesn’t have RCA outputs.
Variable subsonic and low-pass filters are available in dB14. The subsonic crossover frequency range is from 15Hz to 55Hz, while the low-pass crossover spans between 50Hz and 250Hz.
You can adjust the bass response by using the bass boost knob and the bass level remote. This allows you to increase the volume up to 12dB. You can also adjust the phase of the amp (0-180deg).
The dB14 fuse has a 100A rating (it uses two 50A external fuses) and an efficiency of 80%. In our calculations (see below), this gives you a maximum power output of 11.52W. It can produce up to 1200W, according to amp Dyno Test.
The amp can’t produce 4000W, so that is the conclusion. 4000W is just an advertising trick.
CEA certifies that RMS outputs can be produced at very high levels. The amp dyno test also shows similar results. The dB14 can generate 1000W per minute (at 2.). It can produce 600W at 4.
The dB14 is a great value for money. The amp can power a subwoofer up to 1000W/2. This amp won’t provide 4000W power or 4000W RMS.

3. Planet Audio BB4000
Editor’s Rating: (4.3 / 5)
Planet Audio is also a generic brand known for its underrated outputs. Although we have never been impressed with Planet Audio’s amps, this model is slightly more impressive than others.
The amp BB4000, which is Class-D, has a 4000W output. Although it won’t reach 4000W, it is superior to budget amps priced below $200.
Impressions
The Planet Audio BB4000 amp, a bass level remote, mounting screws, and a user’s manual are included in the package.
Although the amp is not very small, it does require planning and measurement. The dimensions of BB4000 are 16.4in long, 7.8in wide, and 2.3in high.
The amp has RCA (low level) inputs and RCA amp outputs. However, it does not include high-level inputs and will require an adapter if your factory radio doesn’t have RCA outputs.
Variable low-pass and subsonic filters can be adjusted in BB4000. The subsonic spectrum is 10Hz to 50Hz, while the low-pass crossover frequency range is from 50Hz to 250Hz.
You can amplify bass by as much as 18 dB. You can use the included remote to control the amp’s bass level and the knob to increase it. You can also choose the frequency that you wish to increase (40Hz – 100Hz). You can adjust the phase (0-180deg).
It is fused with 250A (it uses an inline fuse externally 250A), and it is digital, which means that the efficiency of the amp is around 80 percent. According to our calculations, the amp can reach 2880W. An testing device showed that the amp could pass YouTube. The test results showed lower numbers (2160W Dynamic Burst).
The RMS ratings stated are slightly optimistic. The amp is stable at 1. It is expected to reach 3000W RMS at 1500W at 2.00. 500W at 4.
According to the test, you will receive 1930W RMS at one 1, 1100W 2 and 620W 4 respectively. Although it isn’t terrible, it’s still far below what they claim to be 3000W per hour. One subwoofer can be powered by the amp at 1000W/2.
Advantages
- Compact
- RCA inputs
- RCA preamp outputs
- Subsonic variable (10Hz-50Hz), with low-pass filters (50Hz-250Hz).

- Bass level remote
- Adjustable phase (0-180deg)
- Stable at 1
- 1930W RMSx1 (at 1)
Disadvantages
- It doesn’t have top-level inputs.
- The RMS and peak RMS values advertised are exaggerated.
Best 4000-Watt Amps Over $200
You will need to spend more than $200 if you really want an amp capable of pushing up to 4000W (peak power) You’ll likely need to spend more than $300. These amps are made by reliable companies and offer a significantly better performance than the cheaper models.
4. Hifonics BXX4000.1D
Editor’s Rating: (4.5 / 5)
This list includes Hifonics, which is the most trusted name. Hifonics has over 35 years of experience in car audio equipment manufacturing, so you can be sure they will build an outstanding amplifier.
Although the quality of their amps has decreased slightly over time, they are still excellent. They are definitely superior to other brands. The Hifonics BXX4000.1D mono-amp in Class D has a maximum power output of 4000W.
We don’t like Hifonics amplifiers the most. They do not have RMS ratings. These ratings are not even mentioned in the user’s guide. This is misleading and insincere.

If you wish to amplify the bass, it can be done by turning up the volume to as high as 10 decibels. The knob to boost the bass on the amp or the remote can be used. You can also adjust the phase (0-180deg).
BXX4000.1D has fuse ratings of 275A (it also has an external fuse 275A). According to our calculations, it could push 3168W.
We could not find any amp dyno test for this amp so we don’t know its power but can tell with absolute certainty that it is high.
According to specifications on the manufacturer’s official website, the amp can produce 4000W at 1 and 2000W at 2. It also has the ability to produce 1000W at 4. These are the maximum power outputs.
We don’t have a dyno for BXX4000.1D, so we can only guess (based on tests on other amps in the Brutus series), that the amp will go above half the maximum value. You can also expect that the amp will reach 2500W at minimum and 2000W at maximum.
The protection of BXX4000.1D includes three levels: overload, short circuit and overheat.

6. Lanzar OPTI4000D
Editor’s Rating: (4.6 / 5)
Lanzar OPTI4000D has been available for more than 10 years.
Although it is extremely powerful and heavy, it is not the most efficient amp, even though it is Digital (Class D).
The amp’s cost is approximately $700. This is not the only cost. You’ll need extra batteries or batteries for the amp.
We believe you can probably get a better value for the same price.

This is a list of things you should consider when purchasing a new car amp.
Channels (mono stereo, mono, or Multichannel Amp)
This is an easy decision. You should choose an amplifier with a similar number of channels based on how many subwoofers you want to replace or add. Mono amplifiers are best if you only need to add a subwoofer to your existing system.
A 2-channel amplifier is required to replace two speakers at the front. A 3-channel amplifier is best if you want to replace 2 speakers and add a subwoofer.
You’re probably clear on the point: buying an amp compatible with the number of speakers outputs (channels), is the best choice.
In certain cases, however, an amp with more channels may be more cost-effective and efficient than the speakers. If you are looking to replace the front speakers with a subwoofer and also get a four-channel amp, then you can choose from either a five-channel amplifier or ten-channel amp. The amp can be put into bridged mode.
Class-AB VS class-D
Class-D digital amplifying has a higher efficiency than analog (Class -AB) in terms operating temperature and effectiveness. Why are Class-AB amps still being used? It is simple: they provide better quality middles and highs. All multichannel amps must be Class-AB because Class-D amps can distort high frequencies and mid-range too much.
Bass reproduction is an area where there are many options. Class-D amplifiers offer a pleasing performance with a powerful and controlled low end.
Subwoofers also require more power than smaller speakers. Because Class-D amplifiers are more efficient and offer greater cooling, they are better suited to power subwoofers. This is why monoamps are overwhelmingly Class D amps.
Energy ratings (Real and not Advertised) as well as impedances
As you know, an amplifier must have a matching or higher capacity per channel to the specific impedance. It is easy to choose the best amp.
There is a problem. Manufacturers do not need to publish exact power ratings. Sometimes power outputs can be severely exaggerated. This is especially true for generic and cheap brands.
There are some things you can do that will ensure you don’t buy something that isn’t right for you.
Buy from the best manufacturers and spend more. It’s almost impossible to find an amp that can push 4000W maximum if you don’t pay more than $200. Amplifiers capable of reaching 4000W RMS are usually more expensive (about $300). ).
Next, calculate the maximum power output of your system. The maximum recommended fuse rating and amplifying type are known. You can then calculate the approximate power output using the equation below (similar to the one we used in the reviews).
Third, ensure that your amp is CEA certified. CEA-certified power output values are usually very accurate. These figures are accurate and reflect the amp’s actual capabilities.
Fourth, you can look up Dyno tests for amps. These tests are very precise and determine the RMS outputs (certified testing) and maximum energy outputs. Some tests are done by third-party companies (YouTube reviewers and testers of amps), while others are done by the manufacturer (Skar Audio and Orion are two examples of brands that test amps via YouTube).
These features include inputs (RCA, high-level), preamp outputs, strapping, bridging capabilities with crossover filters and protection
You should consider other factors than the number of inputs, power rating, and impedances. Some amps have RCA inputs (low-level), while others have higher-level inputs (speaker levels).
If you have a factory radio (they usually have only high-level outputs) and you buy an amp with RCA inputs, you may need an adapter (high-to-low-adapter) with an appropriate number of input/output channels.
Be aware of the outputs if you plan to pair two mono amps (or one amp), with one multichannel amp. Mono amplifiers may be strappable, which means that two amps can be connected to increase their output power. These amps usually have master out and slave out ports.
Size of the Amp
It is crucial to take into account the dimensions of car accessories. Because there is limited space, it is natural to be concerned with the dimensions. This is especially true when you consider how large amps can get.
Amplifiers that can push 4000W RMS are extremely large and will not fit under your car. You will most likely only have one option for a 4000W amplifier: your trunk.
Installation and wiring
It is best to leave the installation to professionals if you are not familiar with cars or don’t have a good understanding of car stereos. It is not a smart idea to attempt to install the wiring yourself.
Although you can purchase a CCA amp wiring kit at a low price, it is essential to have an OFC wiring kit in order for your amp’s performance. OFC wire is a better conductor than CCA and won’t get as hot as CCA wire.
